DOCX to PDF API
Send a Word document, get back a PDF with its pages laid out the way Word lays them out. LibreOffice does the conversion, with metric-compatible fonts so text takes the same space it does in Word.
How it converts
LibreOffice converts DOCX to PDF.
- Page size, margins, headers and footers, tables, lists and images are kept.
- Calibri and Cambria are replaced with Carlito and Caladea, and Arial, Times New Roman and Courier New with Liberation fonts. Each replacement has the same letter widths, so lines and pages break where they do in Microsoft Office. Other fonts fall back to a similar typeface, which can move line breaks.
- Files with a password or DRM are refused before any work, and are not billed.
Questions
- Will the PDF look exactly like the document in Word?
- Very close for most documents. Calibri and Cambria are replaced with Carlito and Caladea, and Arial, Times New Roman and Courier New with Liberation fonts. Each replacement has the same letter widths, so lines and pages break where they do in Microsoft Office. Other fonts fall back to a similar typeface, which can move line breaks.
- Does a DOCX to PDF conversion cost more than other pairs?
- No. Every pair costs one conversion, and failed conversions are never billed.
