Markdown to DOCX API
Turn Markdown into a Word document people can edit and comment on. pandoc maps the Markdown structure onto Word’s own styles.
How it converts
pandoc converts Markdown to DOCX.
- Headings become Word’s Heading 1 to Heading 6 styles, so the navigation pane and table of contents work.
- Lists, tables, code blocks, links and footnotes are kept. Markdown is read as GitHub-flavored Markdown.
- Images and stylesheets the file points to by URL or path are not fetched: the converter has no network access and reads only the file you send.
Questions
- Can I edit the result in Word or Google Docs?
- Yes. It is a normal DOCX that uses Word’s built-in styles, so it opens in Word, Google Docs and LibreOffice.
- Are images in the Markdown included?
- Images and stylesheets the file points to by URL or path are not fetched: the converter has no network access and reads only the file you send.
